Evaluation

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
We broke a convention by having an out of shape, less with less Hollywood facial features, as opposed to a muscular handsome character, this challenges the conventions as people are used to seeing main characters as teen heart throbs, or sexual icons, in contrast to an average everyday man.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Our media product represents the society of teenagers of today, by showing their speech and mannerisms in how they behave, by themselves and towards one and other, this reflects on the youth culture of today.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I think the media intuition that would distribute my media product because the characters in my product are part of the British youth, which many programs the BBC broadcasts are based around.

Who would be the audience for your media product?
As I did my research on audience, it was apparent that the best audience I could choose was a mixed gender audience, as to keep my viewer base high and easily relatable. Also I choose to have my audience be of the youth generation, from around the ages of 16-25, once again this is an easily targetable audience, finally I decided to have the class my piece is aimed at be the working class as it is an easily represent able class, as it is as simple as keeping the characters and themes ‘normal.

How did you attract/address your audience?
I attracted my audience by keeping the piece very relatable to just about anybody in my target audience, by having the actors play, relaxed fairly average roles, in which people will be able to relate to.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
I learnt the ins and outs of how to work a video camera, as in the ins and outs of teh technological side of it, we toyed with some effects, how to record with specialist sound equipment and being able to provide narration and voice over’s to a piece of film and I learnt how to edit and splice video clips together.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
I learnt about how different camera angles can affect a scene, how a script and stage directions influence how a scene can play out towards an audience, whether it be make them laugh, cry or feel anger.

The filming & editing

Today we finished our filming, we used two actors which we hosted auditions for, and chose the perfect two for the roles. Upon filming we had no troubles, the actors were reliable, on time and followed instructions clearly and with no hassle, the whole recording process as a whole suffered no issues at all, everything went as smooth as planned with not interruptions. We also began our editing, adding our company logo, transitions, some animatiion for the intro aswell as some non-diagetic music.
